Chapter 22
India slid to the side to avoid the rushing sword coming down toward her. She huffed, her breath coming out in harsh puffs. All around her, she could hear the clanging of weapons as people trained themselves. There was a chill to the air, and as she breathed in deep enough, she could smell Morgilia blossoms that only she’d learned bloomed for only a month in the whole year.
“Your good, India, but the sword is not the way of an elemental. Use your powers,” Ter, her trainer, spat. He was a short, bulky man the King had assigned to her. The general had concluded that they could leave for the border town in four days. She’d spent three of those training and learning the secret of the royal house.
“Focus,” Ter grunted as his sword clanged against hers, pressing against her.
“I am focused,” she gritted.
“You’re not focused. You are being a whiny princess with less talent and lesser sense.”
She roared and pushed him off her.
