Chapter 86. Betrayal’s Gambit
Milan’s POV
“So you think that after you get me out of the equation, Alpha Jake won’t investigate and find me? You are way over your head, Talia.” I said, trying to be brave even when I was damn scared about what would happen next.
Talia scoffed.
“You’re just being naive,” she said. “Alpha Jake won’t even notice you’re gone. He’s too busy with more important things. Besides, you’re just a lowly omega. He won’t waste his time searching for you.”
Her words cut like a knife, but I tried to stay strong. “You’re wrong,” I said. “He’ll look for me and you know why? Because I’m his mate and you are an abomination.”
Talia’s face turned red with anger and she walked up to me and slapped me so hard that I fell face down on the floor.
My cheeks burned from the sting of her hand, and I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I had never been hit before, and it hurt both physically and emotionally. I was in shock, but I forced myself to get up and face her.
