Chapter 55. Long Way Home

The fact that he vanishes after every single encounter is something I cannot fathom. How is he my ancestor, yet so distant? While my mind still wallows on this, I sense a tap on my shoulder and turn.
“Ready to go?” Alastair smiles. I nod.
“Give us a location then,” he adds. I take a deep breath.
“The Iridian Palace, my coronation venue,” I respond and his lips pull up to a side, just as he lowers his gaze to something below.
“What?” I ask, trailing his stare to something looking like a ditch below us, a round black metal covers it. Then I look around and notice that on several spots on the ground, these round ditches are prevalent.
He simply bends and pulls the metal by the handle until the round hole comes into view. It seems to be some sort of mini well inside the ground with greenish water covered with blue-green algae. Although it is wide enough for a deep bath, it is simply not something pleasant.
