Cackles of laughter hang in the air for a while as Kryga expresses his heinous devilry. I have dreamt so many times of the several ways to kill him, yet today, my body freezes, and all I can do is wish I could grab his throat and squeeze…
He is clad in a brown robe, and my mother’s blade dangles on his waist. The wounds of my heart peel open at the sight of it.
“Impressive speech about us,” he begins, his gap teeth coming into view again. “But now you must die for your treachery.”
I manage to stagger to my feet with my insides boiling. I can imagine fum leaving the orifices of my body, especially my ears and nostrils. I move my arms, searching my sides, but remember that our weapons were taken from us before we were let into the Ivory hall.
He pulls out the sword, admiring the keenly polished blade. “I call it the Dragonslayer. A myth no one believed existed until your famous mother,” he chuckles, then points it at me. “What a way to end the story.
