For some reason, I couldn't tell, I'd felt unsettled all day. My heart felt as though it had been gripped by a vice and something bad was on its way, but I couldn't quite figure out what it was.
Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed again. I shook my head, pacing my room restlessly as I glanced occasionally at the portrait on the wall. It was a beautifully drawn fountain.
A creak sounded on the door, and I turned around sharply. With a calm demeanor, my mother stood at the door entrance.
"Königin," I muttered, flashing a ghost of a smile. I noticed her wince, which she quickly hid, with a smile. My heart clenched, and a brief feeling of guilt, washed over me. I should be calling her 'mother,' yet I couldn't bring myself to.
"You're still up?" I hugged myself, as she strolled in.
"Yeah, I couldn't sleep." She shrugged.
