I blinked, trying to see what was in front of me but I couldn't see beyond my nose. There was no moon so the night was as black as charcoal.
I turned around again, the air whipping my head as I tried to make out what the hell was going on here but it seemed quite impossible.
It felt as though I was trapped in a nightmarish world, because I kept seeing shadows and eerie patterns and whispers of dread echoing through the void. I carefully took a step, cracking a twig in the process.
The sound resounded throughout the void, causing me to stiffen immediately. Despite not seeing anything, I knew that there was something here in the dark, and I had to do my best to make sure I was not detected or that was going to be my end.
The forest seemed to also go silent immediately. I turned back and in the edges of my vision I began seeing shapes lurking. They were indistinct but my instincts told me that they were menaci
