Chapter 100. Flames
Xerina’s POV
Flames. They were everywhere. The heat was unbearable, suffocating, and the air was thick with smoke. My lungs burned with every breath I tried to take. I couldn’t see, couldn’t think. All I could hear were the screams.
“Help! Please, someone help me!”
The voice was shrill, desperate, and it echoed all around me. I spun around, trying to find the source, but the flames were too thick, the smoke too blinding. Faces appeared in the fire, twisted and contorted in agony. They were screaming too, their mouths open wide, but no sound came out.
“Stop! Make it stop!” I cried, but my voice was swallowed by the inferno.
The fire roared louder, like a living beast hungry for more. I tried to move, to run, but the heat was too intense. My skin felt like it was melting, and the ground beneath me was crumbling into ashes. I was trapped. There was no way out.
