Chapter 99. Valeria
Rasmus’s POV
I nodded, stepping closer to the bed, my gaze never leaving Xerina’s face. She looked so fragile, so vulnerable. My heart ached at the thought of what she was about to endure, but I would be there with her. I would bear it with her.
I positioned myself at the head of the bed, gently cradling her shoulders, my hands firm but careful. The doctor began chanting, her voice low and rhythmic, the air around us growing thick with energy. Xerina’s body tensed, and I could feel her pulse quicken beneath my hands.
As the doctor’s chant grew louder, Xerina’s eyes flew open, wild with pain and confusion. She screamed, her body convulsing as the curse fought back. I held her tighter, my heart breaking at the sound of her agony.
“I’m here, Xerina,” I whispered, my voice rough with emotion. “I’m right here. Hold on. Just hold on.”
