Chapter 55. You Shouldn’t Be Here
Xerina’s POV
“What… are you doing here?” It wasn’t meant to be a question since I knew why he was here. It was like I was looking at a version of him that was exclusively reserved for me. He looked at me with the same intense eyes, piercing blues that could set my heart on flames and make me wish for more—a moth to flame.
He sat there with his legs crossed and a small parchment in between his fingers that I noticed a little later, blame for his overwhelming presence. I felt my pulse quicken. My thoughts scattered like autumn leaves. His gaze locked onto mine, and I was lost. Trapped. Those eyes held secrets, promises, and danger. I couldn’t look away. His existence was intoxicating. The world faded, leaving just him and me.
I took a deep breath, fixed my clothes, and squared my shoulders.
“I missed you, little wolf.” I stilled, and my resolve crumbled. My mouth parted open and then shut close. He just… couldn’t say words to spike my heart rate.
