Chapter 65. The Kiss
Xerina’s POV
I trudged down the corridor carefully enough not to land on my ass again. Exhaustion clung to me like a second skin, and all I wanted was to collapse onto my bed and let sleep take me. The fact that I hardly slept last night wasn’t helping.
But I knew that wasn’t an option—not with everything that had just happened. I needed to talk to Rasmus, to understand why he had done what he did, and to figure out what this all meant for us.
As I neared my room, the whispers began again, faint at first, like the rustling of leaves in the wind. But they grew louder, more insistent until they were a cacophony of voices in my head.
‘Migami… help us…’
I winced, pressing a hand to my temple as if that could somehow silence them. Not now. Not here. I couldn’t deal with this right now, not when I was already hanging by a thread. I quickened my pace, desperate to reach the cocoon of my room where I could shut out the world and the voices
