Chapter 67. Entangled in Him
Xerina’s POV
The coldness that wrapped around me was chilling compared to the warmth I had just been nestled in.
I shifted to my side and suddenly felt the emptiness next to me; then, for a moment, confusion clouded my thoughts. My hand patted the space beside me, searching for the solid presence that should be there.
But then, reality sank in, and my eyes snapped open, the drowsiness quickly fading as the realization hit me.
Rasmus was gone.
Again.
A twinge of disappointment tightened my chest, sharper than I wanted to admit, as I let out a sigh. Why did this hurt so much? Why did his absence, something I should be used to by now, cut deeper each time it happened? I looked around, my eyes heavy with sleep, but my mind was now fully awake. The curtains were draped, so I didn’t know what time of the day it was.
Sighing again, I sank back into the mattress, feeling strangely relaxed despite everything.
