Chapter 96. Surprise
Xerina’s POV
I stared ahead, curiosity and a hint of unease mingling in my chest. The surprise Rasmus brought for me wasn’t a ring or pendant, not even a weapon, and definitely not flowers. My heart skipped a beat as my gaze landed on the figure standing just a few feet away.
A wide smile curled upon my lips as I quickly pulled myself away from Rasmus’s hold and threw myself into the arms of the man standing in front of me.
“Aura!”
Aura hesitated, his arms wrapping around me with awkward stiffness as he glared at Rasmus over my shoulder. I knew they had bad blood between them, but why would Rasmus bring him here? Whatever the reason, I was too happy to even care. Being in Aura’s arms again felt like a piece of me had come back to life.
Before I could fully savor the moment, I was suddenly shoved off Aura, stumbling a bit as Luca swooped in with his usual lack of subtlety.
