Chris’s POV

‘She called your name.’ Rock was excited.

‘No, she didn’t. She was just screaming in general.’

‘Ask her. Then we can tell her she’s ours. We can claim her.’

‘Why are you so desperate to claim her? Shouldn’t we just wait for the mate bond?’

Rock was silent for a moment. ‘The mate bond chose wrong for her. She was always meant to be ours.’

With that, Rock fell silent again. If Rock was right, maybe the mate bond wouldn’t happen for me and I should continue my plan to claim her. I’d heard of some males not ever being bonded but it was rare. Maybe that was my destiny because the bond had made a mistake for my true mate. Rock knew something I didn’t.

Seeing Vivian in that state had left me utterly undone. I’d be having visions of her like that until my dying days. I could go tomorrow and I’d be a happy shifter.
