Chapter 8. Daisy’s Disappearance

Alaric’s POV

I sat on my throne, tapping my feet impatiently as I awaited the return of the incompetent guards I sent to look for Daisy a week ago.

A myriad of emotions swirl within me. I couldn’t help but feel a mix of anticipation, and impatience, and the only question that kept ringing in my head was how did she escape?

As the candles flicker in the dimly lit chamber, my mind races with thoughts of the guard’s mission. Why are they taking so long to return? Where could Daisy have run to?, Will the guards come back with good news, I longed for the sound of footsteps heralding the return of my loyal guard.

I couldn’t even sit comfortably, I stood up pacing back and forth, when the grand doors of the palace creaked open, revealing the weary figure of the guards, Their eyes, usually filled with determination, now held a hint of defeat.
