Serena POV
I sat on the small bed, my arms wrapped around my knees as I stared at the empty tray on the floor. I had eaten the food this time, even though it made me sick to my stomach.
I hated the thought of letting Murphy win, but I also knew I couldn’t starve myself. If I did, I’d only get weaker, and I needed every bit of strength I could hold onto.
The room was silent except for my breathing. I rubbed my hands together and closed my eyes, trying to picture Myles. I imagined his strong arms, his stubborn eyes, the way he always looked at me like nothing in the world could break him.
“He’ll come,” I whispered to myself. “He has to come. He’s not going to let them keep me here.”
