Chapter 60
Serena POV
I stared at Myles clearly surprised. He had just offered to sleep on the floor when there was a perfectly good guest room just down the hall.
“Why don’t you just sleep in the other room?” I asked, unable to hide the skepticism in my voice.
He exhaled softly and rubbed the back of his neck before meeting my eyes. His gaze was steady and unreadable as usual.
“I’d rather be close in case you need anything,” he said in a firm tone but not unkind. “You might need help moving around in the middle of the night.”
I opened my mouth to argue, to tell him I didn’t need him, that I could manage on my own, but something in his expression made me falter. There was no arrogance and no mocking glint in his eyes. Just… sincerity.
Before I could muster another protest, he had already grabbed an extra blanket from his wardrobe and tossed it onto the floor. My pride demanded I refuse, but the exhaustion and the throbbing in my toe won out.
