Chapter 68
Myles POV
I returned home around 3 AM with the weight of the night’s losses pressing heavily on my shoulders. The moment I stepped inside I spotted Serena curled up on the couch, fast asleep.
I frowned. Again.
She had stubbornly refused to sleep in her own room though I couldn’t understand why. Our marriage was nothing more than a contract and one known only between us. Yet the way she acted lately the way she seemed to linger and gave me mixed signals I wasn’t prepared to handle this much drama.
I exhaled too exhausted to dwell on it and walked past her into my room. After stripping off my bloodied jacket and washing up I collapsed onto the bed expecting sleep to take me instantly.
It didn’t.
My mind refused to quiet. The ambush replayed in my head with Dean’s faulty intel, the Revenants’ ambush and the men we lost. Someone had tipped them off and the timing was too precise to be coincidence.
