Chapter 23. Slice of the Past
Rodney’s POV
It’s been two weeks since Aunt Cecilia died, and I still blame myself for what happened. I was late. She needed me but I’m nowhere to be found. If I did not catch Sushmita on time, she would have faced the same fate.
I was standing facing the shelf that I have in our bedroom. I press play on the button of the cd player to play some soft music, it’s morning and my wife is still sleeping.
I was about to go back to bed again when something caught my eyes. It was a picture frame, two girls on the beach. Wait. The girl in the picture is so familiar. Erin?
I grabbed the picture frame and walked towards Sushmita who is still sleeping, I glanced into her and into the picture. Is it her? But her hair seems different.
Suddenly, she moved and was awakened by me.
“Sorry, did I wake you?” I asked.
“It’s okay, what are you looking at?” she asked and immediately grabbed the picture frame that I have in my hand.
