Issahil's POV

The air was thick with tension and enveloped with a thick silence.

Bound by chains, Theophilus the rogue guardian wolf lay on the floor, unmoving. He was yet to regain consciousness.

I couldn't stop pacing about the room. We were inside his fortress, specifically in the living area.

"I will wake him up," Caleb's voice sliced through the silence.

I nodded, sniffing in a bid to soothe the stinging sensation lingering in my nose.

Hudson had been carried back to the carriage. Alpha Matthias was in the room with us while Tom was out back, keeping watch.

“Ah, the mother. I almost feel sorry for you. It's a surprise you managed to find me but I am afraid your son isn't here. He is long gone.”

His words wouldn't stop playing in my head. I needed to know exactly what he meant by those words. I needed to find my son…
