Chapter 96. Her Father's Daughter
Lillian's POV
There were even more guards guarding the cell my grandfather was locked in. They bowed when I reached the cell. I placed the food on the floor to pass it inside the cell through a gap left below the gates for that very purpose.
“Grandfather.” I peeped into his dark cell.
A guard was holding an antique lamp beside me, pointing it into the cell but it took my vision a while to get accustomed to the dim light.
“Grandfather,” I called again when I finally saw him.
A clench immediately formed on my chest as the image of his bony wrinkled half-naked body settled on my vision.
He was sprawled on the floor but started to straighten himself up to his feet after I called his name.
A stinging sensation hit my nostrils and I sniffled. He was in a very sorry state.
“Lillian, is that you my dear?”
