Chapter 170. Mothers and Mothers-in-Law

Sounds of chattering carried up to my ears as I descended down the stairs for my morning dose of coffee.
A frail, familiar chuckle tightened my stomach and spread some feeling of hate and repulsion aimed at solely the owner of that frail chuckle.
Their faces came into view, I plastered on a smile. “Good morning, mom.”
“Hey, darling. I hope you slept well?” She asked, her eyes roaming my entire frame.
I knew that look and the proposed talk behind it. I'd been avoiding getting into that discussion with her.
“Yes, mom. I did.” I turned to the second person, the one my hate and repulsion was aimed at. “Martha.”
“Hm.” Came the sneer and a malicious grunt as her acknowledgement.
“Mom, will you please excuse us?” I stepped further into the living room.
She warily observed our faces and rose. “I'll be making us breakfast, Martha.”
“That is so kind of you, Priscilla.” She smiled at my mother, watching
