Chapter 49
Brenda’s Pov:
We lay exhausted on the ground, each person gasping for breath. Tears began to fall from my eyes. Dominic was in so much pain. His legs hurt so badly yet he kept trying to move on. Sometimes he would get so tired but would not stop; instead he would put all his weight on me and I would struggle to keep moving as well.
It seems they were not on our trail or they had taken a wrong route. I was scared they might catch up with us when they wake up in the morning and discover Dominick had escaped. We moved all night but because of Dominick’s broken leg, I am sure we did not cover much distance.
But this is almost third day of moving and all the food and water I had had finished. I was so hungry and m throat very dry. I was weak as well and the sun was scorching hot, burning into my skin. There was sparse vegetation were we were and we could not get any shade.
