Chapter 48

Dominick’s Pov:

I opened my eyes slowly and sat up painfully. My legs hurt terribly. They wanted to break them so I would not be able to walk so they hit me severally with a heavy plank.

I felt dried blood on my sides of my heart and my hands trembled. My mouth felt very dry and I was thirsty as well.

I looked around in the darkness. I was in a cage outside. It seems they had decided to camp here for the night and continue the journey the next morning.

I wondered what my fate would be and what they would do with me. But I was the cause of all that had happened to me and I deserve anything that happened to me.

So many people lose their lives because of me. And I was supposed to be their protector. I resigned myself to whatever was going to happen to me.

I looked ahead at the fire burning at the middle of the tents to set up, and not listening to the distant chattering and laughing.
