Chapter 21
Walking downstairs, it feels unreal, like it is a dream. How could today have gone so badly, so awful? How could Jake do that to me?
I start talking to guests, trying to forget what happened, then I guess I need to talk to my Dad. I can’t hide from it anymore. I begin walking to him, and he smiles like he always does. He doesn’t seem to be judging me or thinking of me as a bad person. I am relieved, standing here, talking to him. It feels good that he knows, and now I don’t have to hide anything from him anymore. Jackson walks down the stairs, or rather storms, Marcus behind him, trying to catch up. I turn in the hope to reach him, but it is useless. By the time I get to the door, Jackson is driving off, Marcus in his own car, right behind him.
