It ends well, with no arguments, no drama and no one trying to kill us. All three are a big step in the right direction. Jackson checks the cars before we set off, all safe. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe we were reading into it too much, and there really was no one out there trying to hurt us? Getting home, the girls are asleep already in their car seats. Taking them into the house, we change them and put them in their cribs. Climbing into bed ourselves, we lie quietly.
“So, did you get in touch with your sister?” He leans on his elbow to look at me.
“I did. I texted the details of the launch, told her it is her choice if she comes or not.” I hope she does. I would love to meet her, and she has a son. I don’t even know how old he is. He could play with the girls if we decided to meet up again after.
