Chapter 39. Taken
The next few hours go slowly, every noise making me wonder if someone is in the house. This is the first time I have been alone in weeks. Making dinner and tea, the day passes quickly but feels slow.
Getting the girls ready for bed, I hear a noise. Turning, there is nothing. I am just freaking out, being alone is freaking me out. How will I cope when Marcus leaves and Jackson is at work? I can’t let them see me like this or no doubt they will stay at home. Answering the phone, Jackson confirms he is outside and I turn the alarm off. Walking in alone, he hugs me, clearly also worried while he was away from me.
“Everything okay?” He looks around. The girls are sat on the sofa in their pyjamas watching cartoons.
“Yes, no issues, none at all. Where is Marcus?” Looking around, he never came in.
“Good. No, he might not be home tonight. You go get some sleep. I will spend an hour with the girls.”
