Chapter 23. Last Minute Things
It feels strange not having him in the bed with me. Slowly I get more and more tired, too tired for even my mind and thoughts to keep me awake. Eventually, I fall asleep. I wake up and get ready for the day. Walking downstairs, I again make breakfast. I am actually getting good at this breakfast thing, well, actually, the whole cooking thing. Margaret is coming back Sunday to give me another lesson. Standing here cooking, Georgina comes down.
“Did you not get sleep again?” She looks at me.
“I slept fine, didn’t wake or anything. Why?” I look at her, confused. Why does she seem to think I never sleep?
“You honestly look like you have had no sleep again,” she replies, looking at me like she is assessing me.
“No, I feel great. Maybe it is just because I am so worried about Jackson?” I muse.
“Maybe. So, what’s for breakfast?” She sits down, looking. “Pancakes. That is great!” She grabs a plate and piles pancakes onto it. Sitting, eating, we decide onc
