Chapter 24. No Word
Sitting, Georgina and I have our hair and makeup done. Watching the clock tick by, there’s still no call confirming Jackson is back. I jeep ringing Liam, but he hasn’t heard anything either. He isn’t going to show, or maybe he is back and just getting sorted? By 11am, we are ready. I get my dress on. It feels tight, not so tight that I can’t wear it, but like it was taken in too much. Feeling about ready, my Dad and Step-Mum arrive just in time, both smiling and hugging me.
“Alena, you look breathtaking,” my Dad cries, cuddling me.
“Thank you, Dad,” I cry back. This feels so strange. Sitting, we wait for Helen to arrive. 20 minutes later, she walks in but looks concerned. I can’t help but think the worst. I knew this whole thing was a bad idea.
“Jackson is not back yet. No one has heard anything. Liam has gone to the church with his suit. If you want to stay here until you're sure he will arrive, that is okay.” She smiles. How can I just sit here and wait?
