Chapter 18
It had been a couple of weeks since Mary went to work at the bar. She told herself that she needed time off the places that reminded her of Alex and the stranger. With the help of Jasmine, she got herself a professional psychoanalyst whom she visited for rehabilitation every two days. It worked. She was able to regain herself a little. She stopped having bad dreams. All thanks to Jasmine, who frequently took her out for lunch to a nearby restaurant, a coffee, or a walk at the beach.
“Hello, Jazz.”
“Hi, David.”
The way Jasmine replied, her eyes widened with surprise, and her lips curled in a smile; how she seemed pleased to see him send Mary a message that this must be the David her friend had told her about, although she’d never seen his picture.
He leaned in to give her a peck on the cheeks as they exchanged pleasantries.
“Let me help you get out of the car,” he said, smiling.
“Oh no, you don’t have to. Let me park it.” She said.
