Chapter 6

As the curtains closed around her, Selena began taking deep breaths to calm herself. She was never dependent on anyone to save her. Nobody had ever successfully saved her in times past, only making her life worse than it was. So why was she clinging to Liam’s presence like that?

What was different about him that he quickly gained her trust against her better judgment?

The nurse stepped in, and Selena knew it was time to put on her tattered big girl pants and face the next set of examinations.

“Hey, I’m going to need you to change into this and lie on your belly so that I can take a look at the sore and painful areas on your back. I will be back in ten minutes, so just take your time. I’m right out here if you need any help-” Nurse Choice was saying but was cut off by Selena asking her to stay.

“Please stay. I don’t think I can move my arms without any help,” Selena said to the nurse, who nodded and proceeded to help her take off her clothes and put on the hos
