“Okay,” Aiden replied. “Have you started on the letter you are to present to the councilmen? Maybe that’s why we’re still being held here like prisoners,” He guessed. 

Well, that made some sense to Clary. Maybe when she would present the letter, then they would be allowed to go anywhere as they please. “Not really, but I’m going to start on it before the night comes to an end.” 

It was the letter that was supposed to be used to explain everything that had happened concerning the death of Star. It was going to be easy because she wasn’t lying. 

None of them were. They had actually seen the hybrid die right before their eyes. They had seen him take his last breath. They had seen his body burned away by an invisible fire consuming it into something smaller than ashes or dust.
