Chapter 141
“We need a lawyer,” Sarah finally spoke up, her voice breaking even though she was trying to sound firm. “We have a right to counsel, we should not be taken straight to prison. There was not even a formal investigation into what had happened.”
“Shut up! You speak only when you are spoken to!” The guard with the bald head shouted at Sarah. “Damn murderers,” He mumbled under his breath in anger.
Sarah was pushed and she started walking, following her daughter. “I’m so sorry, Clary, this is all my fault,” She apologized as tears filled her eyes, threatening to drop.
“It’s not your fault,” Clary said in a monotone. “It’s me who should be apologizing. I was the one that killed the royal guard, not you. But now you’re being punished for it.”
“You killed no one,” Sarah said in a hard tone, not believing that her daughter was a murderer.
