Chapter 36

I don’t know how to respond to what Ashton just said. He is staring at me, waiting for me to say something when I am literally at loss for words. 

“He doesn’t,” I try to lie, and Ashton laughs at my failed attempt. Even I don’t believe myself. 

“I don’t think lying is for you. You should really consider just sticking to telling the truth because you really suck at lying,” He laughs, and I look in the direction of Zayn and the others. They are a small distance away and waiting for me.

“I need to get going,” I mumble as I force a smile but Ashton stops me by saying, “Wait, Lara. I really don’t want you to forget what I told you at the restaurant. All I need is a chance from you.”

“Sure…” I nod and then I leave without looking back. Afraid that if I do, Ashton would stop us from leaving so he can take the orb from Zayn, which would cause a fight that would be remembered forever. 

Or maybe I’m just paranoid. I think I am.
