Chapter 41

Bunny and Zayn watch me as Ashton speaks to me on the phone. I exhale deeply in response to what he just told me; that he is waiting outside of the city, waiting for me to help get him in. 

This is really not the time, especially when I am being investigated.

“Why are you here?” I ask Ashton. He is now back to working with his father to steal the orb, so I know that his suddenly being here can’t just be social.

“Lara, I would prefer not to talk about my reasons on the phone,” He replies to me, and then I hear him sigh. “Please…just get me in the city.”

Though the phone is not on speaker, I’m sure that Bunny and Zayn can hear our conversation clearly. I ask Zayn for permission silently by pleading with him with my eyes, and he nods once.

“Go get the Alpha, and make sure he’s under control,” Zayn tells Bunny, and to my surprise, she does not resist or make any kind of comment. “Bring him here.”
