Chapter 44

“He rejected you. He rejected you. He rejected you.” The words begin to play over and over in my mind like a broken record. It’s my wolf, and I know what it's trying to do; trying to touch that sensitive part that Ashton tore open the night he rejected me.

“He’s a coward…” The words echo in my head as I recover from the blunt force that had me flying in the opposite direction a few seconds ago. 

Ashton's strength is mind-blowing! I could never take him in a fight; I truly hope my wolf knows that.

“Let her go!” Ashton begins to close the distance between us by approaching me slowly. I hear a deep chuckle in my mind and my bones begin to snap as they recede to what they were once before. 

The fur over my body starts to disappear as quickly as it came, and in seconds, I lay cold and bare on the dark road as Ashton watches me. He shifts back into his human form and rushes toward me.
