Chapter 148

Confusion replaced the scent of detective Stone’s perfume and filled the room. “I did it. I did it, detective.” Alex spoke with confidence. There was not a hint of nervousness in him. 

“Dad, uh, what are you doing?” Liam asked as he ran his eyes over his father. 

“Mr, Harding, do you fully understand what you are confessing to?” Detective Stone asked. She looked annoyed. I’m sure she was tired of the case dragging on and on and just wanted to close it already. 

“Yes. Yes, I fully understand,” He replied.

“He didn’t do anything.” I joined the conversation. 

“Listen. I don't know what the hell is going on here, but I have a car waiting out there for the purpose of taking a prisoner or two to prison.” She stood up and straightened her clothes. “Now, I am going to step out and give you all the time you need to get your stories right. But when I come back, I am taking someone out to that car.”
