However, when he remembered Calvin's face, guilt came back to haunt him. He knew his decision to keep his distance from Celine was unfair to his son. But on the other hand, continuing to be close to Celine would only hurt him more.  

His mind went back to their last meeting in the office break room. Celine's words full of confusion made him doubt. Did Celine really not care, or did she just not know how to express her feelings?  

"I can't go on like this," Nico said to himself. "I have to focus on Calvin. That's all that matters now.

The next morning, Celine started her day with renewed vigor. She made sure Calvin was ready for school, then sent his nanny to drop him off. After that, she went straight to the office.
