Chapter 50
Harry entered the room once Brooklyn was in fresh clothes and the nurse had gone.
“Your aunt called me,” Harry said and shut the door behind him.
“Why does Lisa have your number?” Brooklyn asked, raising an eyebrow at Harry, who sat at the end of Brooklyn’s bed.
“Because she’s concerned about you and knows I’ll be with you,” Harry shrugged. “She said to tell you that she won’t be able to visit you tonight. She has to stay at work and won’t make it back in time before visiting hours are over.”
“That’s fine,” Brooklyn nodded. “I don’t need constant company.” She sent Harry a look, but he ignored her.
Brooklyn did want constant company, however. She didn’t like being alone. The idea of being in a strange place alone, especially at night, made her very unsettled.
“Your thoughts tell me you do,” Harry said simply.
“Harry!” Brooklyn gasped and huffed. “Just—” she sighed and held her head. “Harry, can I talk to you about the accident?”
