It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be to look after Audrey. She kept her distance and that got to me. The first few days with me were difficult and even now she is very reserved.

She couldn't sleep for days because her scars were sore and I just didn't know how to help her. It wasn't until the wife of a member of parliament took pity on her and helped her because no one could bear to see her like that anymore that things started to improve.

Now I sit here on my throne and look out into the silent, night. Audrey is sleeping and the rest of the palace is sleeping or at their posts. I listen to the record player and think of Audrey, she is suffering.

The attack on her is not even the problem, but the fact that she is not a vampire. She is not recognized by the court so she sits at the very end of the table at meals, is not allowed to be with me when I am in the throne room, and even has to show my children more respect, walk two steps
