Tiana entered the room, looking skeptically from one to the other. "You've been here a long time. I wanted to make sure you were still alive." The thought was justified. She knew we had our differences.
I raised my glass so she could see with her own eyes what we were doing. Tiana remained suspicious, which was easy to read. She even narrowed her eyes, as if that would help her see if we were at each other's throats.
Who would have thought that we would sit together afterward for a drink, or rather several glasses? This was inappropriate given the general circumstances.
