“Hi, do you happen to see this kid in the picture?”
Michelle showed Marsha’s picture to the old woman who was sitting on the bench in the market, with high hopes that she would get a different answer this time after asking so many people.
The old woman adjusted her eyeglasses and took a closer look at the picture. Her lips pursed before she shook her head. “I apologize, but I didn’t see that kid around here.”
“T-Thank you,” Michelle stuttered as she felt the lump building inside her throat.
“Is she your child?” asked the old woman curiously.
Michelle nodded. “Y-Yeah, she’s missing and we’ve been trying our best to find her.”
“Oh, poor girl. I hope you find her soon.” The old woman held her hand and squeezed it. “Don’t give up. Your child needs you.”
