Logan’s POV

“Hey, Mason, can you pass me the salt?” Layla’s voice rang from the kitchen, light and cheerful.

“Of course, Miss Layla,” Mason replied, his Spanish accent carrying a warmth that grated my nerves at that moment.

I had only come down the stairs to grab a glass of water, but I froze when I saw them. Layla was leaning casually against the counter, her hair falling perfectly around her shoulders.

She looked so... radiant. And she was smiling…no, not just smiling, she was beaming at Mason like he was the only person in the world.

I couldn’t move. Instead, I found myself crouching halfway down the staircase, hidden in the shadows, staring at them.

“Thank you, Mason,” Layla said, her smile lingering as she took the saltshaker from his hand.

“It’s nothing,” Mason replied, meeting her gaze with a polite but thoughtful smile. “
