Layla’s POV
He looked up immediately, concern etched on his face. “Yes, Layla?”
“Thank you,” I murmured. “For everything. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
“You don’t have to thank me,” he replied. “It’s my job to take care of you.”
“No,” I said firmly. “This isn’t just a job for you. I see the way you’ve been here for me, how you’ve gone above and beyond. You’ve been more of a friend than Logan ever was.”
Andre looked uncomfortable, shifting in his seat. “Layla, don’t do this. Logan… he’s complicated. But I’m sure he cares about you in his own way.”
I laughed bitterly. “Cares about me? Andre, he left me to rot in that mansion. He’s probably out there with her right now, living his best life while I’m here, fighting to stay alive.”
