Another voice, colder and sharper, cut through the first. You’re doing the right thing. Forget her. She’s part of the past. Isabella and Damian are your future. Layla’s absence doesn’t matter anymore.

I exhaled heavily, gripping the armrests of my chair. The conflict within me was exhausting, a tug-of-war between the man I used to be and the man I was trying to become.

I needed clarity. I needed direction.

My thoughts drifted to Isabella and Damian. They were my stability now, my reason to move forward.

I pictured Damian’s laughter, the way Isabella smiled when she thought no one was watching. They felt real, tangible in a way Layla didn’t anymore.

I sat up straighter, a sudden determination settling over me. It was time to solidify my life, to commit to the family I had chosen.

Pulling out my phone, I turned it back
