Jaden’s POV
His tone wasn’t one of a simple request, but a command, and I couldn’t help but feel the weight of his words. I excused myself and walked out of the room, leaving Layla standing by herself.
As I made my way back down the hall, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
My grandfather’s voice echoed in my head, a constant reminder that I had made a mistake by leaving Layla alone.
But I waved the voice away.
When I reached the spot where I had left her, my stomach dropped. She was gone.
My first thought was disbelief. I had told her to stay right there, to wait for me. But now, there was no sign of her.
The silence of the mansion felt suffocating as I looked around, searching for any hint of where she could have gone.
“Layla?” I called out, my voice cracking as I walked around the hallway.
