Chapter 381

Maddy’s POV

I stared out the window, my mind racing. The Layla I had spoken to on the phone didn’t sound like the confident, strong woman I remembered. She sounded broken, terrified. And that terrified me.

Who had done this to her? And why?

I clenched my fists, anger bubbling under the surface. Whoever was responsible, they would answer to me.

The taxi came to a screeching halt in front of the address Layla had given me. I threw a wad of cash at the driver and jumped out, not even waiting for change.

I scanned the area frantically, my eyes darting around for any sign of her. Then I spotted the call center, its flickering neon sign casting an eerie glow on the sidewalk.

Without thinking, I pushed through the glass door and stepped inside.
