Layla’s POV
He’s been trying to get me to open up, to get out of the house, but I just don’t have the energy.
Everything feels like a chore right now. Going out, interacting with people, it all feels so... exhausting.
“I’ll make dinner, then,” Jason says with a smile, standing up. “You don’t have to do anything. Just relax.”
I nod, grateful for the offer, but the thought of eating alone in the silence of the house feels even worse than the silence of the couch. Still, I don’t want to argue, so I stand up and follow him to the kitchen.
As I watch him move around, preparing dinner with ease, I can’t help but feel a little bit guilty. He’s trying so hard to make things better for me, and I’m just... stuck.
