Jason’s POV

I stood in the living room, the sounds of Maddy and Layla’s voices fading as they disappeared upstairs. 

The house was eerily quiet now, just the faint hum of the refrigerator and the soft creak of the old wooden floors. 

It should have felt peaceful, but all I could hear was the pounding in my chest, my own frustration growing with every passing second.

I didn’t know what had happened to me tonight. The way I had acted…how jealous I felt…wasn’t like me. I wasn’t the kind of guy to get caught up in petty emotions. 

But seeing Logan with that kid… the way he had looked at Layla, like nothing had ever happened between them, it drove me mad.

I ran a hand through my hair, frustration curling in my gut. It wasn’t just that he was there, in our space, acting like he still had some claim over her.
