Layla’s POV
It wouldn’t be easy, and there were still so many unknowns, but for now, I had to hold onto the hope that we could make this work.
And as I sat there, the baby kicking softly against my hand, I couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, Jason wasn’t the only one who had changed.
The next morning, the baby gave a soft nudge, as if to say good morning. Today was the day. I had convinced Jason to let me register for antenatal care, and we were going to the hospital together.
I sat up slowly, swinging my legs over the side of the bed. A knock at the door startled me.
“Layla? Are you awake?” Jason’s voice came through, calm and steady.
“Yes,” I replied. “Come in.”
