Jason’s POV

“It won’t,” I cut in. “I’ll make sure of it.”

We ended the call, and I stood there for a moment, letting the weight of the situation sink in. I had just set a plan into motion that could change everything, and there was no turning back now.

As I climbed back into my car, my thoughts drifted to Layla. She was my reason for everything, my anchor in a storm that seemed determined to tear me apart. 

But even as I fought to protect her, a part of me couldn’t ignore the jealousy that simmered just beneath the surface.

Would she ever truly choose me? Or was I just fooling myself, clinging to a hope that had no foundation?

Shaking my head, I forced the thoughts away. Now wasn’t the time for doubts. I had a job to do, and I couldn’t afford to let my emotions get in the way.

I started the car and drove off, the weight of my decisions pressing down on me like a heavy stone.
